The permanent collection is intimate with each piece well-considered. The collection ranges in scope and includes furniture, lighting, contemporary home goods, decor, wearables, and limited edition offerings. Warm and minimalist objects that are durable and handcrafted, Base Modern's designs perform their intended functions simply and reliably without unnecessary ornamentation. The process of its creation is enjoyed as much as its use.
Scott enjoys collaboration and is constantly exploring how things are made and why. Is there a better solution? Is there a need that isn't being met? A tiny idea might form. Scott fosters those ideas, living with each one, working through what they might mean, and eliminating any kinks.
Scott works primarily in metals like steel, brass, and stainless, with accents of wood, glass, acrylic and marble. Before beginning a project, he also considers which finishes will best suit his work.
His aesthetic is heavily based in geometry, but Scott also considers the people who will interact with the objects he creates. That means his designs are contemporary and sharp but also sensual and human.
